“No balls in the house!”. That has been me reminding my son at times not to kick soccer balls or footballs in the house. I also have to remind him sometimes not to THROW balls in the house. Although he loves football, he has a new love for baseball as well since he’ll be playing this year on a team for the first time (T-Ball). He’s very dedicated to practicing and sometimes wants to have his ball in his room, even if just to “look at” as he says. Well, that’s not going to happen, especially since I know it’s only a matter of time before he tries throwing it or harassing his little sister with it. When I came across 3D Light FX and their Deco Lights, I just knew this was the perfect solution! Not only will he get to have that “beloved” baseball in his room, but it will have the appeal of being thrown through the wall, as well as the functionality of a night light! Not just that, but a cordless light option, only requiring 3 AA or AAA batteries.
3D Light FX is a Canadian company that was created by a dad who wanted to provide a safe, functional and inspiring environment for his son. They created the 3D Deco Light for that very reason. The 3D Deco Light is a comforting, cordless, decorative night light for any age. Their soccer ball, baseball, basketball, hockey, (and football available online end of May) lights create the illusion of being “kicked” through the wall, something any kid (big or small!) would be thrilled about. The environmentally-concious LED light uses less than 0.45W per hour, something that has become extremely important now a days; saving energy!
My 5 year old son was so excited when the Baseball Deco Light was delivered before he left for school, he actually said, “Wow, that’s pretty neat! Is that for me??”. You can imagine his delight when I told him it was. His current night light is cheap, uses too much energy for something so small, and doesn’t give off a very nice “glow”. It’s more of a bright blob over in the corner to be honest. So I was anxious to see how the Deco Light would compare. He prefers a night light so he can see his surroundings, but he doesn’t like one that’s too bright and keeps him from drifting off to sleep. Everything was packaged really well and I loved how you could see the product through the packaging, giving you a glimpse of what to expect inside. It only took 3 AAA batteries (since we received the baseballs, it needed 6 batteries all together) and it comes with a remote to turn on and off. The remote is impressively small and sleek. It has a very simple on/off button which I think is ideal for children, or people like me who don’t like to fiddle with too many buttons! The light itself is plastic but sturdy with an easily removable backing for installing the batteries. I really liked the instructions that came with it, they were very informative and easy to follow, with pictures to accompany it. The decals and screws are also included.
I had no problems hanging the Deco Light myself, since my husband was at work. It took me about 10 minutes from start to finish. Which is pretty fast! I thought it would take a lot longer, but everything was designed for easy use, that it took no time at all. The decal attached perfectly and the backing was easy to remove. I used an old bank card to smooth it out as I went along to help push out any bubbles and to make sure it adhered well. All I had to do was drill the screws into the specified markings! Once the light was turned on, it illuminated a soft, soothing glow in the room. It is a perfect addition to my son’s room, day or night! I like that it uses LED lights, something that my husband and I have been converting to in our house. I was worried it might heat up and get too hot, but it stayed fairly cool to the touch. I made sure to place it somewhere on the wall so it’s out of reach from the kids and I now prefer the Deco Lightto our regular night light. The Deco Light seems like a safer, as well as more decorative option compared to our regular night light. I’m very happy with it, especially since it has an affordable price tag of $19.97! My son is also very happy, and that’s all that really counts I actually threw out his old night light after installing the Deco Light because I was so happy with the results shown here:
You can’t deny how cool these look! I couldn’t figure out how to shut my flash off, so it was hard to take a picture of it lit, but you can still get the idea as shown in the second picture here:
There’s so many other options for Deco Lights as well! You could use them in a games room or bar for example. My dad has a bar set-up in his football-themed basement and I think these would make an awesome and unique addition to it!
